Chicken and Beef Sates – CV

Excellent curry flavor. Can be made on the grill or in the broiler. Great with curried rice as the side dish.

A dozen wooden or bamboo skewers
1 cup heavy cream
2 teaspoons curry powder
½ teaspoon turmeric
1½ teaspoon ground cumin
½ teaspoon cayenne
1½ teaspoon salt
½ onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into ¼” thick strips
1 lb boneless rib-eye or top sirloin steak, cut into ¼” thick strips

In a baking pan soak skewers in warm water for 20 minutes or longer.
In a blender, blend cream, spices, onion and garlic.
Pour marinade into a large bowl and stir in chicken and beef strips to coat.
Cover and marinate 15 minutes at room temperature.

Preheat broiler or grill.
Thread beef and chicken onto skewers, keeping meat flat, not bunched.
Broil sates on well-oiled broiler rack close to heat (or on hot grill) for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until just cooked through.
